Methodology and Workpackage

   


The project’s goal will be obtained by modifying (minor modifications) a conventional natural gas MGT and a biomass furnace available on the market, aiming at high energy conversion efficiency, high reliability, small scale plant and low emissions, cofired by a significant share of renewable fuel. The system will be designed through an initial thermodynamic and technical analysis to match the characteristics of the biofurnace and MGT as well as the HE requirements.


The original MGT combustion chamber will be modified to operate at higher air temperature and to admit a wide regulation range. The temperature and operational pressures variations will cause a minor modification of some other components.

The BIO_MGT polygeneration plant will be operated under various operational conditions defined by the end-user demand. The analysis of results will enable additional performance improvements, through plant optimisation in terms of regulation and component details.
